When I was young, my mom wanted me to learn how to sew. My parents had named me after Tabitha (or Dorcas) from Acts 9:36-42 of the Bible because my mom enjoyed sewing and wanted me to learn to enjoy it too. It took several years of crying sessions for me to learn to share her love of sewing, but eventually I started to improve and enjoy the hobby. Getting involved in 4-H really helped my interest level and I started getting excited about sewing. My last 4 years in 4-H, I was able to go to the state competition and was one of 5 winners each year. I now love sewing for myself and others.
I was also blessed with a grandmother who patiently taught me how to knit and with parents who made the commitment to homeschool me giving me extra time to develop my interests. I'm grateful for the family God gave me and for all their encouragement of my talents.
